  • Amazing experience, we love the place, the owners and his history, a restaurant with more than 60 years, Chinese style, but really adapted to Japanese ways. With local products, super cozy! I highly recommend, don’t forget that you must do reservation in advance.

  • very tasty chinese meal! the husband & wife duo were very kind, talkative, and funny. I originally emailed much too early (about 3 months in advance) for a reservation, and while they couldn't confirm it until a month out, they followed up with me exactly a month prior to my request. make sure you keep an eye on your emails! they are very firm with their reservations (for good reason). as for the meal itself, we shared the pork meatballs and mapo tofu entrees. both were very tasty. the mapo tofu wasn't too spicy, but there was chili oil and pepper on the table if you needed it. the pork meatballs had a very crispy exterior and were tender and juicy inside. the true stars of the show, however, were the appetizers. I absolutely loved the tofu and potatoes, and I wish I could have ordered more. the almond pudding was also excellent. it was easy to understand why this restaurant is so popular after dining here. we felt very welcomed and had much more conversation with the owners than we have at other restaurants. we would happily return someday!

  • One of our favourite and most memorable meals in Japan! A delicious set menu with Japanese style Chinese dishes that are cooked with care and warmth from the husband, while the wife prepared, hosted and served. The duo were entertaining and so so lovely, and we felt right at home, as if our parents were preparing our dinner. We chose the sweet and sour chicken and the mapo tofu for our mains, and were treated to a bonus serving of sweet and sour meatballs (so yum!). We would go back and highly recommend making a reservation for those visiting!

  • A family run restaurant ( husband and wife ) , a very small but cosy place. You feel the warmth of the place. The husband is the chef and it’s a great one. All the food you order he makes it in front of you. Just awesome. Mind blowing gyoza ( they have 3 kinds of ) and all the rest of the menu was super super tasty. This included appetizers, soup , main dish , dessert , gyoza and some sake and yuzo. Maybe our best meal on our 3 weeks tour in Japan. Very convenient price also. A highly recommended place if you are in Takayama. Pay attention ! You need a reservation because the place is tiny ! We made it 3 weeks in advance. By the way , all the food what is served is a traditional, house made food. You won’t regret it.

  • Friendly service. A bit overpriced, but they gave you a lot of food. And the food are delicious. I guess it is a good way to support a local business. We're a party of 3. Each of us ordered different menus and they are kind enough to divide everything into 3s, so we all get to taste the other dishes. We couldn't finished everything and had to take away one main course. PS. They only have a squatting toilet.

  • All in all it was a wonderful experience. Amazing gluten-free food (which is hard to find in Japan!), and the lovely couple were so kind and funny. Definitely recommend going here. You must make a reservation. It’s a set menu for 4000yen (including drinks) - the experience is worth much more in our opinion. Lots of love from Denmark ????????

  • This was our favorite meal/experience in Japan! Great for us vegetarians as well. We loved the food, the atmosphere, and especially the fabulous couple who were hosting, cooking, doing everything! They are such special people and we are so lucky to have been able to eat here.

  • The loveliest couple we met on our trip! The place requires a reservation in advance and admits guests every half hour. The hosts are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and speak English, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food itself is home-style, with simple dishes that try to blend Japanese and Chinese flavors, even though the chef has never actually been to China. The menu is generous and includes appetizers, gyozas, two main courses, a glass of alcohol, and dessert, making it a complete and satisfying meal. What makes this place truly special is the refreshing break it offers compared to most restaurants in Japan, which usually specialize in one traditional dish. Here you get variety, warmth, and a unique atmosphere. The kindness and hospitality of the couple alone are worth the visit. As a final touch, we were even given a small sweet treat to take with us when we left-a delightful gesture.
